The .gy Domain Name Registry provides essential services to both the local and international Internet community. These services include the administration, operation, and technical management of domain names registered under Guyana’s country code top-level domain (.gy ccTLD)
.gy; .co.gy; .com.gy; .org.gy; .net.gy; .edu.gy and .gov.gy domain extensions are currently available for registration.
The .gy domain name Registry operates under the Registry-Registrar model. Domain name registration and management services are provided through accredited local and International registrars on a pre-paid basis. Registrars set their own pricing for domain registrations and renewals and may also offer a range of value-added services, including web hosting, website design and development, email hosting, and related internet services.
The .gov.gy domain space is reserved exclusively for Government of Guyana ministries, departments, agencies, and official programme. Registration and administration of .gov.gy domain names are managed by the National Data Management Authority (NDMA).
The .edu.gy domain space is reserved for accredited educational institutions operating within Guyana.
In May 2019, the .gy country code top-level domain (.gy ccTLD) successfully implemented DNSSEC (Domain Name System Security Extensions), enhancing the security and integrity of the .gy domain namespace. The deployment of DNSSEC provides an additional layer of protection against DNS-related attacks, helping to ensure that users are directed to legitimate websites and online services.
